UNR Engineering Class Visits the SouthEast Connector Project

Granite Construction Project Manager, Brian Roll, gives an overview of the SouthEast Connector Project to UNR engineering students.

Dear Stakeholder:

The Project Team partnered with Dr. Adam Hand, University of Nevada, Reno Civil and Environmental Engineering professor, to host his class for a field day. Brian Roll, Granite Construction Project Manager, presented an overview of construction operations. The group was then shown paving operations to learn about items such as pavement materials and layers, and for a real-life example of the process.

“Partnerships like this are important for the students,” said Roll. “Being able to learn about an operation [such as paving] in real-life is so much more meaningful and worthwhile than reading about it from a textbook.”

Prior to the class’s visit to the project, they were given a tour of Granite Construction’s Lockwood Facility where asphalt is produced.
