SouthEast Connector Project: Pembroke Drive Construction
Granite Construction is working vigorously on preliminary improvements on the future intersection of Pembroke Drive and Veterans Parkway (the SouthEast Connector roadway). The site for an equalizing box culvert has been excavated, and this week crews placed stabilization rock for the base of the box culvert and have begun preparations for relocating the waterline. The project team has partnered with Sierra Nevada Construction (SNC) to install and tie in the new waterline. Once this is completed, construction of the box culvert can begin, which will allow excess waters to rise equally on both sides of the SouthEast Connector preventing flooding of the roadway.
The project team thanks the neighboring communities for their patience and understanding during the temporary closure of Pembroke Drive for this work to be completed. Granite Construction has volunteered to work Saturdays at Pembroke Drive in an effort to reopen the roadway as soon as possible. Pembroke Drive is anticipated to open in December.
