Celebrating Safety Week 2018

Dear Stakeholder:

Next week the SouthEast Connector Project Team will be participating in Safety Week 2018, running this year from May 7–11. This year’s theme is “The Power of Safe Choices.”

“It’s important to develop a mindset to always deliberately choose behaviors that reduce risk,” said Brian Wing, Granite Construction’s SouthEast Connector Project Manager. “In doing so, making the safe choice becomes natural.”

In recognition of Safety Week, Granite Construction will be holding themed-safety meetings on the project site before work starts each day. Themes include: The Power of Safe Choices, Hand Injury Prevention, First Move Forward, Stop Work Authority/Speak Up! Listen Up! To end Safety Week and to thank the entire project team for their dedication to safety, Granite Construction will host a jobsite BBQ on Friday for construction crews.

With safety in mind, the RTC and Granite Construction reminds the public that the SouthEast Connector is an active construction zone, and only authorized personnel are allowed on site. Please, do your part in maintaining a safe work zone and do not enter the project site.

Mira Loma Soundwall to Begin Taking Form

The project team completed a sample panel of the Mira Loma Bridge soundwall that will soon begin to take form. The soundwall features an alternating mountain pattern with various textures and colors to mimic the area’s natural landscape. This is the only soundwall that will be installed as part of the project and it will help mitigate traffic noise for Heron’s Landing residents.
