Did You Know? Big Rig Use of the SouthEast Connector

Dear Stakeholder:

When the SouthEast Connector opens to traffic, big rigs, or semi-trailer trucks, will be allowed to use the SouthEast Connector roadway as a new route between south Reno and east Sparks, but with some restrictions. Currently, Pembroke Dr. and Mira Loma Dr. are both “no truck routes” with posted signs on McCarran Blvd. to remind drivers. The City of Reno has also recently designated South Meadows Pkwy. as a “no truck route”.

As these three streets intersect with the new Veterans Pkwy., big rigs will not be permitted to enter or exit the SEC at Pembroke, Mira Loma or South Meadows, yet will need to travel straight through with the first northbound exit being Greg St. and the first southbound exit being Geiger Grade Rd. Prior to project opening, “No Truck” signs will be posted on the SEC at the Pembroke, Mira Loma and South Meadows intersections.

Coming Soon: Traffic Control on Greg Street

Beginning April 9 for approximately one week, Granite Construction will be performing striping operations on Greg St. Crews will striping the new turn lanes for access onto Veterans Pkwy. Drivers can expect lane closures during this time.
