SouthEast Connector Team Implements Noise Minimizing Precautions
The RTC and Granite Construction are taking several precautions to minimize construction noise near neighborhoods. Sound monitoring and noise-reducing equipment are in place to ensure noise does not exceed 70dBA (comparable to a lawn mower from 100 feet away).
Additionally, beginning the week of July 25, the project team will be placing Conex boxes, or intermodal shipping containers, near Heron’s Landing to create a temporary sound wall during construction of the Mira Loma Bridge. The boxes will create a sound barrier between construction operations and neighboring residents by absorbing the noise. A permanent, 10-foot-high sound wall will be built along the edge of the roadway at Heron’s Landing once construction is completed.
Granite Construction has also installed Multi-Phase or White Noise Backup Alarms on equipment working in Rosewood Lakes Golf Course and Heron’s Landing areas to help prevent a noise nuisance.
