Pile Driving Operations Begin at the Mira Loma Bridge

Dear Stakeholder:

Pile driving operations began this week at the Mira Loma Bridge location and will last through the month of August. To support the weight of the bridge, 231 piles will be driven to form the bridge’s foundation.

For all bridges on this project, the steel pipes, or piles, are at least 24 inches in diameter and are driven approximately 20 feet into the ground or until they reach a stable layer of soil. The piles do not reach the point of bedrock. Once the piles are in place, they are then filled with concrete to create the base of the bridge foundation.

Pile driving will be limited to normal working hours 8 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday.
