Vibration and Sound Monitoring Technology Used on SouthEast Connector Project

Dear Stakeholder:

Pile driving operations are underway at the new bridge location in Rosewood Lakes. The technique is essential in creating stability in bridge foundations and results in a consistent and repetitious ‘pinging’ sound and vibration.

The project team is using both vibration and sound monitoring equipment during pile driving operations. The team will use a seismograph at Boynton Slough Bridge to record ground motion as steel piles are driven.  Sound monitoring equipment will record sound levels from the operations.

The next phase of pile driving will occur later this summer during construction of the Mira Loma Bridge near Herons Landing. There are five new bridges on Phase 2.
